inaugural medal set in mind condition.
the history of striking inaugural medals dates back at least
to king james i of england in 1603.
how time flies!! this george w. bush official inaugural medal
is now ten years old. it is a new in the box medal with wooden stand, and a booklet on american
inaugural medals (not shown in the photo). this heavy, 2.75" diameter medal was sculptured to honor
president bush's 1st inaugural (in 2001). it is also a memento of the "hanging chads" election that
was so close, we had to wait weeks to know who had won, and took a supreme court decision before
that was finally determined.
most inaugural medals do not capture the likeness of the president
very well. this 1 is an exception. sculpted from an associated press photograph of mr. bush waving
to the crowd at the 2000 republican national convention, all will recognize him with his
characteristic wry grin-smile.
